Calliope Sofianopoulos,
founder of Metaphrase, is a bilingual professional with extensive
experience in Greek and English
Translations.
After completing her Primary studies in
Melbourne, Australia and her Secondary and
Tertiary studies in Athens, Greece,
Calliope began a Teaching
career
in 1986.
A registered teacher of English
as a Foreign Language
with the Greek Ministry of Education, Calliope
later
studied Modern Greek through
a Bachelor of Arts course
at La Trobe University in Melbourne. In 1992 she was accredited by the National
Accreditation Authority for Translators & Interpreters (NAATI)
at the Professional Level (Level 3 Translation -
Greek↔English)
before returning to Greece in 1993.
She has since specialised in legal and business
translations both for businesses and government
bodies in Greece and the European Union, as well
as for lawyers, corporations and government
agencies in
Melbourne, Australia.
After living,
studying and working for
half of
her life in Melbourne and the other half in
Athens,
and translating for almost
15
years, Calliope founded
METAPHRASE
in 2006 – a provider of Greek
translation services. As a NAATI
Accredited Professional Translator, also registered with
the Greek Consulate in Melbourne, Calliope
is qualified to certify translations both for
the Greek, as well as for the Australian
Authorities. As a Specialised Legal Translator,
she is qualified to translate Court and other
Legal, Business, Government and Financial documents.
With her experience in Translations
for the
Greek and Australian Governments, she is
